How We Raise Our Puppies

Building the Best Start for Your Future Companion

Learn about the nurturing environment and thoughtful methods we use to raise our Border Collie puppies from birth to their new homes. Our commitment to their well-being begins the moment they are born.

First Steps and Socialization

Our puppies are born and raised in our living area, where they are introduced to everyday noises, scents, different people, children, various objects, toys, and car rides. This early exposure helps them adapt to different environments and situations, fostering confidence and curiosity.

Before they leave us, our puppies are microchipped, dewormed, and receive their first set of vaccinations. They also undergo a thorough veterinary examination and will be CBCA registered. Each puppy goes home with a folder containing all their documents and information to assist their new owners.

Health and Enrichment

We ensure that our puppies are not only healthy but also well-adjusted and enriched. All our breeding dogs pass their OFA evaluations, ensuring that our puppies are free from testable hereditary health issues and are in prime condition to lead healthy lives.

Our puppies have a play area with different surfaces, obstacles, and toys for enrichment. We continually add new items to enhance their play experience and stimulate their minds. In addition to ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation), we also perform Early Scent Introduction (ESI) to further develop their sensory abilities.

Preparing for New Homes

To ensure our puppies are ready for their new homes, we begin some light crate training as they grow older and accustom them to various environments and handling. They are never kept in kennels; instead, they live and play in our home, receiving constant love and attention. By the time they are ready to leave us at 8 weeks of age, they are well-prepared for the transition to their forever homes.

We are committed to finding loving and active homes for our puppies. Each puppy will be temperament tested, and placements will be made based on the best fit for both the puppy and the family. While we take the owners' preferences into consideration, our primary goal is to ensure the best possible match.

Thank you for considering a Thunder Ridge Border Collie. We look forward to helping you find your perfect companion.
